Theres a new store in SL called Masai Mara, Here is a bit about this great store and what buying their items will do.. “MASAI MARA : The Solidarity Store was founded by Miss Colour of Couture 2012 and 2013 Miss Virtual World Candidate representing Kenya, Starline Igeria, to help and promote the KIBERA YOUTH INITIATIVE – MAMA TUNZA’s project

Mama Tunza’s children’s home in Kenya was started in 1988 when the founder, Mary Khasakhala, found an infant dumped in a road side drain. Filled with compassion she decided to adopt the baby. This gave birth to a lifelong passion and desire to start a children’s home. Mama Tunza, as she likes to be called, has been at the fore front of advocating for the rights of children. The home started with an infant but has grown to have about 200 children who live at the Centre. Mama Tunza takes care of their well being. Most of them are orphans of HIV/AIDS or come from single parent homes. The home accommodates and provides for these children entirely through donations. KIBERA YOUTH INITIATIVE has taken MAMA TUNZA as one of their projects you can read more at: http://www.kiberayouthinitiative.org/

This is a really big challenge which could help some very deserving children, and I ask for your support in this important project. Ty so much! I decided to be a blogger for this great cause, and style up some fashions of the vendors you will find there. Hope you enjoy and go on over and visit Masai Mara.

Welcome to MASAI MARA: The Solidarity Store

Masai Mara – beginning from the 1 September 2012

The evolution of culture is ultimately determined by the amount of love, understanding and freedom experienced by its children… Every abandonment, every betrayal, every hateful act towards children returns tenfold a few decades later upon the historical stage, while every empathic act that helps a child become what he or she wants to become, every expression of love toward children heals society and moves it in unexpected, wondrous new directions.   Lloyd deMause

I start this blog with that quote, because the magnitude of the following feature, is kept in context for me when I read the above.

This plight, tore at my heart and touched my soul. SL has done it again, it has raised the profile for those that suffer, and for those that want to help bring it to an end.

From the 1st September, we are called upon to help raise the profile and funds for Masai Mara who is championing the Mama Tunza’s project, an extraordinary woman, bringing to life an almost impossible dream.  I cannot begin to imagine the daily challenges she must undertake to ensure the home remains open.  Mama Tunza  has put self aside in order to make a difference.  She began by finding one child abandoned, left in a drain, to fend for itself, her compassion gave her the courage to rescue that child, from that humble beginning, she opened a home for other abandoned, lost and sick children.  Relying on donations and sponsors, Mama Tunza has managed to preform a miracle, in a time where miracles are thought to no longer exist. Now it is estimated that 200 children are living under her care.  Mama Tunza bestows upon them what should be theirs naturally without doubt and question.  Love, nurturing, kindness, protection.  A home where they are wanted, sheltered and guided down the pathways that will lead to their own individual greatness.

Many of these children are found sick with aids and other diseases.  Abandoned because their own parents do not want them, or cannot afford to have them, fleeing from abuse and possible violence, they are lost in a strange time of politics and economical crisis, they have no voice, no power, they have no political alligence neither can they help with the debt crisis most countries are facing.  As such, they are ignored and made vulnerable.

Mama Tunza has given the children of kenya a voice, so has the Kibera Youth Initiative for Community Development, that sponsors projects like Mama Tunza’s. Starline Igeria,  Liv Glam and all the designers in SL, all the bloggers that will take part in this event, all those that will give of their sims, their buildings, their time and their L$ to make this event successful.  All of us have given these children a voice, a hope and a future.

The SL community instinctively helps, and I am always in awe of that.  Thank you for reading this blog and all the others that will appear over the next few weeks. Thank you for caring and making it count.  To Starline, thank you for your devotional work on this project and to Mama Tunza.. Bless you.

Keep tuned to all the blogs that will be reporting on this worthy cause and support in any which way you can.
